Alberto Alves is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physical Education and Sport Sciences at the University of Maia, a researcher at the Centre for Research in Sport, Health and Human Development (CIDESD), and Coordinator of the ONCOMOVEĀ® programme at the Association for Supportive Care Research in Oncology (AICSO). He also serves as Deputy Director of the National Program for the Promotion of Physical Activity at Portugalās Directorate-General of Health (DGS). He holds a PhD in Physical Activity and Health from the Faculty of Sport, University of Porto, and an MSc in Cardiac Rehabilitation from the University of Essex (UK). His research focuses on the preventive and therapeutic role of exercise in chronic disease management, with particular emphasis on cardiovascular and oncological conditions. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in national and international journals, as well as several book chapters, and has served as principal investigator and co-investigator on multiple competitively funded research projects. His work aims to advance the integration of exercise into clinical practice, rehabilitation, and supportive cancer care.
